The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Gift Worlu, has commissioned the newly completed Antenatal Care (ANC) Block at the Model Primary Health Centre (MPHC), Rumuokwurusi.
The facility, revitalized by the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, is expected to improve access to quality healthcare for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and community residents, while also easing pressure on existing healthcare facilities in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Dr Gift Worlu described the project as a major milestone for the healthcare sector. He commended the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board for its commitment towards the revitalization of healthcare infrastructure across the state, noting that the newly commissioned ANC Block would greatly enhance antenatal services and provide a more conducive environment for expectant mothers.
The council chairman further urged healthcare workers at the facility to remain dedicated and professional in the discharge of their duties. He also called on members of the community to take ownership of the facility and protect it from vandalism.
